B. Braun for Children: CSR activity with Omair Sana Foundation
Under the initiative, B. Braun for Children, BBPK supports the cause of Omair Sana Foundation.
OSF is a non-profit which provides free of cost treatment to people suffering from Thalassemia. Thalassemia is a blood disorder without a cure, and the only way to manage it is by performing blood transfusion on patients every month.
In order to bring some joy in the lives of these children, BBPK hosted a lunch at McDonald's. The whole idea behind this was simply to show these kids a good time.
We had the pleasure of meeting adults who have completed their education and are looking for jobs. We also had the pleasure of meeting a woman who besides being a thalassemia patient herself, has managed her condition so well that she taught at OSF for a few years and is now getting married next month.
The children were very excited and had fun in the play area and enjoyed their burgers. Dr. Zaffar Hashmi, Managing Director, BBPK distributed the goody bags to everyone. All HODs BBPK took part in this activity as well.
The gratitude letter received from OSF was very heartening as it stated that “Most of those kids have never been to McDonald's in their lives and kids carried those goody bags all the way back home and happily showed it to their parents.”
This whole activity which was arranged by Corporate Communications Department was not only motivating to help more, but was also a very humbling and moving experience. We hope to see more such events in the near future. We hope that one day, with enough awareness, this disease will be eradicated.
